2004 / Bodegas Vina Magana / Baron de Magana / Proprietary Blend / Navarra / Spain / Red Wine / 750ml
The 2004 Baron de Magana is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Tempranillo aged for 14 months in 70% new French oak. Inky purple, it has an alluring perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, wood smoke, blackberry, and black currant. Ripe, sweet, and more structured than the Dignus, it merits 3-5 years of additional cellaring and should drink well through 2018.

2008 / La Posta / Cocina / Proprietary Blend / Mendoza / Argentina / Red Wine / 750ml
The 2008 Cocina Blend composed of 60% Malbec, 20% Bonarda, and 20% Syrah aged for 12 months in 20% new French and American oak before bottling without fining and filtration (as are all of these red wines). Purple-colored, it has an enticing bouquet of cinnamon, Dentyne gum, cigar box, violets, black cherry, and blueberry. Medium-bodied, round and sweetly-fruited on the palate, it has plenty of savory spice notes, enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years, and a lengthy, pure finish. Drink it from 2010 to 2016.

The toasty, satin-smooth pineapple flavors in this chardonnay are clean, simple and rich. It's the sort of wine that will appeal to most anyone, especially with roast salmon for a decadent match.

2007 / Ramey / Chardonnay / Russian River Valley / California / White Wine / 750ml
Light gold. Powerfully scented bouquet of lemon, orange, iodine and floral honey, with a suave spicy undertone. The citrus flavors repeat on the palate, along with gingerbread and tangy mineral qualities. Very fresh and precise, with excellent finishing lift and lingering minerality. This got about 38% new oak but I'm not seeing, or feeling it.

2000 / Gaston Chiquet / Brut / Special Club / Champagne / France / Sparkling Wine / 750ml
The 2000 Brut Special Club is even better than the 2000 Brut Millesime. Here, the Chardonnay also comes from Ay, which adds an additional dimension of weight and density. The wine offers up an exotic array of pineapple, passion fruit and dried apricots, with incredible depth, creaminess and nuance. Menthol and wild flowers linger on the long and deeply satisfying finish. The 2000 Special Club is firing on all cylinders today; in fact it is one of the finest wines I have ever tasted from Chiquet. Disgorged: December 11, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020.

2007 / Anderson's Conn Valley / Cabernet Sauvignon / Reserve / Napa Valley / California / Red Wine / 750ml
Pure creme de cassis intertwined with floral and licorice notes are present in the inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. Rich, full-bodied, and meant for long-term aging, it should hit its peak in 7-8 years, and evolve for 25-30 years. These brilliant 2007s are some of the strongest efforts that have emerged from Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards over the last decade.

2005 / Sine Qua Non / Roussanne / Atlantis Fe 203 3E / Vin de Paille / Sweet White Dessert Wine / 375ml
The 2005 Atlantis Fe 203-3e Roussanne Vin de Paille is a 100% Roussanne cuvee possessing 352 grams of residual sugar per liter. While it is a stunning effort, when tasted next to the two Mr. K. whites, it comes in slightly below those two out-of-this-world offerings. Incredible aromas of honeysuckle and marmalade are classic late-harvest Roussanne, and the wines sweet style is beautifully balanced by terrific acidity (12.5 grams of acid per liter).
